Located in East Bakersfield, Marco Polo Performing Arts Studio is a family-owned business that offers lessons in voice, guitar, bass, drums, piano, violin, trumpet, and other musical instruments, as well as Hula and ‘Ori Tahiti (Tahitian dance). All classes are offered both in English and Spanish.
Marco Polo Performing Arts Studio or MPPAS opened its doors in 2009 and is owned and operated by Marcos H. Delgado and Rosario Hernandez Ortiz, father and daughter, respectively, both long-time Bakersfield residents. Dubbed after Marcos H. Delgado’s childhood nickname, MPPAS offers an exclusive teaching technique and method that allows anyone, regardless of age or experience, to play an instrument instantly.
Our mission
Marco Polo’s mission is simply to help enrich the lives of both children and adults by allowing to explore different forms of art and cultures.
Our goal
Our main purpose is to serve as a means for community members to explore the usual and the unusual from a different perspective. And perhaps, just as the great explorer did, assist people in traveling around the world from a cultural and or artistic perspective
About the owners
Mr. Delgado, a native of the state of Veracruz , was born in Alvarado and raised in Mexico City . He has been a lifetime musician for more than 40 years and a performing guitarist and singer. He’s the founder of one of Mexico ’s Golden Years ‘trio’ or romantic group “Los Fantasmas.” He’s also a songwriter and publisher of several music-related books and methods and has been a teacher at different local elementary schools.
Rosario Hernandez Ortiz was born in Mexico City . She and her family migrated to the United States in 1992. Rosario has been a Hula and Polynesian dancer since the age of 11. Being Hula one of her strongest passions, she wishes to share it with those who love to dance, enjoy a good workout, and wish to contribute to the preservation of the Polynesian Culture, which is, to some extent, a great combination of many of the cultures of the world.
